This project is based on a personal perspective portraying a part of my lifestyle & choice. For this project, I explored hair and the meaning that it holds in certain religions and cultures. It ended up being an intimate and personal perspective on hair when I started to look at it from the lens of my own religion, Sikhism. As a believer of this religion, I do not cut my hair and this piece is a visual expression of my experience. The final piece is a 6 panel book that can only be opened after cutting the hair. Once opened, the book talks about how "I couldn't have cut, if it was my hair", along with information about 'Sikhism', a religion which is not very well known in the US. Through the medium of my project, I aim to share, not only my personal preferences and choices but also, knowledge about the Sikh religion with the audiences.
